Telephone Support Volunteer – Petworth & Midhurst
Available from 17 December 2025 to 6 January 2027
Telephone Support Volunteer – Petworth & Midhurst Help people feel heard, supported and more hopeful for the future — all from your own home.
Chichester District Foodbank supports communities across our district, including Petworth and Midhurst. In these rural areas, people receive their food parcels by delivery rather than visiting a food bank in person. This role ensures they still feel connected, valued and supported through regular phone contact.
As a Telephone Support Volunteer, you will be the friendly voice who checks in with people, talks through their food needs and allergies, and has caring conversations about how they are managing. You will also help identify local support services that could make a real difference — such as financial guidance, benefits advice or help with essential household costs.
We believe that asking for help can be a big and sometimes difficult step. Our aim is to provide food support while working alongside people toward greater stability. Your role will help build trust and confidence over time, ensuring that no one feels left to cope alone and that support is there when it can make the most impact.
You will receive full training on our systems and signposting approach, and you’ll always have support available during your volunteering hours. Although you’ll volunteer from home, you’ll be part of our friendly signposting team, with opportunities to learn together and share what works.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable using computers, a good listener, and motivated by helping others. It’s flexible — you can fit it around your other commitments during your volunteering day — and it offers a meaningful way to make a lasting difference for people in your community.
If you enjoy connecting with people and want to help others move forward, we would love to hear from you.
