Community Campaigner Volunteer (Cardiff)
We are thrilled you are interested in becoming a Campaign Volunteer. We would like to see people from different backgrounds and experiences to take part in this volunteering role so don’t worry if you’ve not done any campaigning before – there will likely be lots of skills and experiences that you can bring! We also encourage those with lived experiences of poverty to apply.
We have set up a campaigning group called Cardiff Action Now/Caerdydd Admani Nawr (C.A.N) and would love for you to be involved in this group but there are also other opportunities you can get involved with as part of our campaigning work. Our current campaigns are focused on the cost of bus tickets and making school uniform policies more flexible so that they are more affordable for families to buy. Additionally there may be opportunities to be involved in national campaigns led by the anti-poverty charity Trussell.
When: Campaign meetings currently take place monthly on Wednesday afternoon in Cardiff city centre, usually with an option to join in remotely. However, volunteering with our campaigning work is very flexible - you can get involved at times that suit you, depending on your availability and the campaign activities happening at the time.
What you could help with:
- Attending campaign meetings to share your experiences and help plan our activities
- Helping at campaign activities e.g. helping at a stall in the community
- Creating resources related to our campaign
- Speak to local decision makers and local media about our campaign issues
- Support with social media
- Supporting with Welsh translation
- Researching into issues affecting people in Cardiff and helping with creating reports to show evidence of the issues
- Help spread the word about the campaign and connect us with more people in the community
If you want more information about this role, feel free to drop an email to: imy@cardiff.foodbank.org.uk and I’ll be happy to answer any questions or meet with you to explain it in more detail!
