Trustee (Fundraising & Grants Lead) - Leeds North & West Foodbank (Leeds)
“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline”
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Founded in Moortown in 2013, our foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. We currently have seven foodbank centres open to clients across North and West Leeds and are running deliveries twice a week to those areas where we have not yet reopened our centres.
Through a network of local referral partners we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in hardship; last year we gave out **16,001 **emergency food parcels (to March 2024). 37% of the people supported in 2023-24 were children.
This role involves leading on fundraising and grant applications at board level, ensuring that the Trustee Board is aware of and kept up to date with any fundraising/grant developments.
